Anuket Deco Large Pendant - Flood Plains and Fertility
*PRODUCT & PROCESS*
Inspired by Art Deco’s exaggerated interpretation of Egyptian motifs, I was intrigued to look back at Egyptian myths. The Art Deco motifs brought to mind floodplains which brought me to the story of Anuket, goddess personification of the the Nile. She is nourisher of the fields, goddess of the hunt, and a protective deity of childbirth.
This piece is the largest of the collection. A dramatic piece that hangs to the mid-chest and evokes both the Art Deco and its take on Egyptian motifs in a striking yet organic sense.
*MEASUREMENTS & MATERIAL*
The pendant is 2.25 x 1" (57 x 25mm) and hangs on a 26" chain. The pendant is hand cast in solid brass. The brass version is left unsealed and will develop a distinct patina over time. The gold version has an 2+ micron (x3-4 thicker than gold plate and chemically bonded to the base metal). The piece in the photographs in the brass version. Studio images of the gold coming soon.
The surface can be brightened up with a polishing cloth. Any patina that develops on the brass can be embraced or polished away. Avoid keeping jewelry in the bathroom or a humid environment as it will expedite the patina/tarnish process. The gold version won't patina and can be maintained from tarnish with a polishing cloth. Ammonia will deteriorate gold layers, for this reason avoid commercial polishing products and chlorinated pools.
